[So, the Republic of Albion. For whatever reason and whatever traumas that lead them here, word of god has decreed that Our Heroes are at the military academy there. That said, as with any other school full of teenagers, there's definitely a hierarchy among the students...and as it turns out, the pretty upperclassman who is responsible for the sudden, sharp uptick in the visitor curfew at the girls' dormitory being obeyed is dominating the practice rooms. We're not sure why she's spent the better part of the afternoon defeating students at swordplay, but she's run through both the fencing and kendo teams, and is standing there in the center of the room looking magnificently bored.]

...Is that really all? Is there no one who can provide me even a decent challenge?

[Clearly, an intervention, or failing that, a new challenger is required.]

That was not my intention, and I do apologize for the trouble, but I have no intention of allowing activities to resume as they were.

[She raises her chin a bit in--not quite defiance, but she's clearly a little irritated.]

As long as these honorless dogs who continue trying to creep into the windows of young girls persist, so will I.

[He sighs and nods. It's not like he's unfamiliar with the concept of relationships being a terrible prospect at this school.]

I've heard that before, though honestly it's never been enough of a problem for me. I know what I need to handle and I handle it.

In this case, while you connected the dots in a logical fashion, it's also implying I'm only upset about the disturbances to my sleep schedule because I'm unable to find a willing partner for sex. That's just a touch insulting, no?

Oh, I assumed there'd be a lot of issues with being interrupted. But I suppose I insinuated that the drive behind your doing all this was that.

[So then he crosses an arm over his chest, to his shoulder, and bows.]

I think you'll find that the man almost never lives up to the ideal, in most cases.


[Still, he straightens up, even reaches to fix his hair that she mussed.]

That's not exactly what I mean...but I suppose I find it curious. You, who are thought of as aloof and cool but I suspect you're simply too busy to interact much...and me, who no one seems to ever connect to my reputation.

Kind of serendipitous, isn't it?

I'm not sure I understand what you're insinuating. Or perhaps I am being willfully ignorant. How is this meeting serendipitous for either of us?

One, because I very rarely get any opportunities to use serendipitous in a sentence. Two, I used the term because I'm curious and I would like to be friends?

Well, I have made friends under more bizarre circumstances. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, then. I suppose that I will be seeing you around more often? Or should I expect you to hunt me down in empty nooks in hallways again?

I suppose I could accept your earlier offer, but I'm not exactly trained for kendo...and I made a promise that would obstruct me from it, unfortunately.

So I suppose empty nooks it is.

Go join the fencing club. Or would your promise keep you from that as well? You should be part of some kind of afterschool activity, lest you waste those talents you showed.

...Not my promise, no, but perhaps the fact I broke the captain's arm last week when he tried to climb in my window with a stereo.

[Rubbing at the back of her neck.] In my defense, I was, uh, startled, and I didn't think the shoe would send him back out the window.

The impact might not, but the shock would be more than enough. It was good instincts on your own part.

What kind of promise keeps one from joining the kendo club but not the fencing club?

...One I'm not discussing in a hallway for all who wander by to be aware of.

[Digging some hair ribbons out of her pocket to finally pull her hair up into twintails.]

I would suggest either someone more private, or somewhere busy enough eavesdropping is less feasible.

More private would mean a study room in the library, the roof, or one of our rooms, typically.

[Leo buddy you know what most people use those for, right? Right?!]

[...She doesn't think he does.] Rooms would cause rumors I don't want to deal with, and the roof access is at the end of the hall. It seems like a clear answer.
